415 Haywood Road

A row of buildings fills the Haywood Road and Westwood Place intersection. Currently occupied by Harvest Records, an independent music store started in 2004, 415 Haywood Road is also known as the Buckner Building.

Originally owned by J.H. and Anna Buckner, it was built in the early 1920s and was home to the A&P Grocery Store. A number of other businesses occupied the building in the years to follow, including Ed’s Big Dollar Superette during the 1960s.

From 1994 to 1999 the Asheville Police Department used it as a substation and community resource center.
